About Healthy Morning

By Deborah Edson, Pharmacist
Founder of Healthy Morning

As a retail pharmacist, I saw people becoming sicker and sicker with chronic illnesses, often treated with multiple drugs.  Yet drug therapy is not alway the answer.  In a person whose health/ nutrition status are challenged, multiple drug therapy may make matters worse.  Drugs must be detoxified by the body, a process that depletes the body of nutrients.

I am a member of the American Pharmacists Association, the Association of Natural Medicine Pharmacists, and  the American Nutraceutical Association.  Recently, I completed a curriculum on Herbs and Dietary Supplements for health care professionals developed by the National Institute of Medicine (NIH) and Wake Forest Univerity. I am certified as proficient in the Dietery Supplement Health and Education Act, DSHEA by the American Nutraceutical Association. I write a montly column for Living.Well Magazine and contributed to the book "Prescription For Nutritional Healing", 4th Edition, released in 2006 by Avery Publishing.

In keeping with the “old-fashioned corner drug store model,” I encourage consumers to maintain an open dialog with their  physicians in their consideration of natural therapies.  After implementing a natural medicine program or lifestyle change, dosage requirements of prescription drugs may decrease, so it is critical that you maintain contact with your physician.
